About Daniel Tepper, MD
Dr. Tepper is a board certified ophthalmologist. He practices comprehensive ophthalmology with a focus on advanced cataract surgery and the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. He received his undergraduate and master's degrees in the biological sciences at the University of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana. Dr. Tepper went on to complete his medical training in 1991 at Tulane Medical School in New Orleans where he was nationally recognized for his clinical research in ophthalmology. After completing his ophthalmology residency at Tulane, he was invited to join the schools medical staff where he taught the ophthalmology residents surgical skills. In 1997, he returned to practice in his hometown of Chicago.
Dr. Tepper is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and an associate clinical professor at the University of Illinois. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Illinois Association of Ophthalmology and The Chicago Ophthalmological Society. He has participated as a board member of Chris Radio, which provided audio news for the visually impaired. In October 1999, Dr. Tepper joined a group of doctors who conduct medical missions throughout the world. He has provided charitable surgery to people in the Philippines and Panama.
Dr. Tepper, who is proficient in Spanish, has been practicing ophthalmology since 1993 and is on staff at multiple Chicago area hospitals. For the past 25 years Dr. Tepper has been an avid proponent of proper nutrition and dietary supplements as an adjunct towards the prevention of disease. He founded Lotus Eyecare in January 2000. The name of his practice is supposed to convey a holistic approach to his patients, utilizing traditional allopathic medicine while integrating nutrition and/or dietary supplements into his treatment plan. He has read extensively, attended numerous courses and been interviewed on the radio about the use of nutrition and dietary supplements and their relationship to a person’s general health as well as the health of their eyes. He will provide integrative nutritional consultations specifically for his patients interested in the treatment of their ocular allergies, chronic red eyes, dry eyes, macular degeneration, diabetes, glaucoma, computer eye fatigue and other conditions.
